2016 Baselworld brings an exciting array of new Jewellery Trends

Baselworld 2016 Review

Taking place each year at the world famous Messe Basel exhibition hall in Switzerland, Baselworld has become a regular favourite for the Steffans team over recent years. As a show that continues to grow year-on-year, Baselworld is rapidly becoming one of the industries most innovative showcases of luxury jewellery fashions, with some of the world’s leading designers exhibiting their latest wares and limited edition releases.

With this year’s show set to bigger and better than ever before, we took a trip over to the beautiful city of Basel to take a look at the latest releases from the likes of TAG Heuer, Georg Jensen, Longines, Gucci and Tissot, among many others. Whilst the show had a wealth of truly revolutionary items on offer, we’ve reviewed the major talking points over the course of the 7-day show to provide you with a condensed guide about the latest trends and some of the unique new products that we’ll be selling.

Big on Blue:

One major talking point from this years Baselworld was that a number of the major designers have put a preference on including elaborate blue dials in their latest creations. One particular creation that beautifully follows this latest trend is the Men’s Special Edition Red Bull Quartz Chronograph Formula 1 Watch from TAG Heuer. Designed to embrace the unique relationship that this famous F1 team and watch designer share, this new watch utilizes much of TAG Heuer’s classic styling, whilst incorporating the rich blue styling that Red Bull has become renowned for.

TAG Heuer Releases Limited Edition F1 Watches:

Aside from the truly original watch created in partnership with Red Bull, TAG Heuer released a number of other unique Formula 1 inspired watches, many of which Steffans are proud to be able to sell both in-store and online. Longines Roland GarrosLongines launches new models from grand classique range:

Swiss watch maker Longines has long been known for the elegant and luxurious watches in their Grand Classique collection, and at this years show they showcased a number of exciting new pieces. Created with design input from Roland Garros (home of the French Open) and the St Moritz Polo Club, these latest pieces will look to build on the success of previous watches in the collection, and further enhance the style of the wearer.


Tissot creates watch with 80-hour power reserve:Tissot Tour de France

At this years Baselworld show, one of the most unique releases had to be the Powermatic 80 watch from Tissot. Designed with fairly vintage and classical styling, the Powermatic 80 has an 80-hour power reserve without being worn or wound up. Aside from this unique creation, Tissot also released news of two new design relationships with the Tour de France and the Moto GP series. With these two prestigious events, Tissot plan to release a number of limited edition pieces over the coming months.


Gucci Alessandro Michele CollectionGucci announces new designer:

As one of the world’s leading fashion brands, Gucci have never been in short supply of unique jewellery designers, and have long been the ‘go-to’ brand for some of the industries most stand-out pieces. However, this year at Baselworld the Gucci team announced a strong addition to their team in the form of Alessandro Michele. We expect to see a number of completely original creations coming out of Gucci from this designer in 2016, with a particular preference being placed on bees throughout their collection.

Georg Jensen reveals partnership with the late, great Zaha Hadid:

At this year’s show Georg Jensen announced a number of exciting new pieces that showcased Georg’s renowned history for contemporary flair. We also learned that the Georg Jensen team will be releasing an exciting collection of jewellery that has been created in partnership with the iconic Architect Zaha Hadid, who sadly died at the end of March. These iconic designs will embrace the edgy style that the late Ms Hadid became so renowned for, showcasing the partnership that they shared together.
