HRH Prince George of Cambridge Turns 1!

It’s hard to believe that a year has passed since the announcement by Buckingham Palace that William and Kate had been blessed with a baby boy.  Weighing in at 8lb 6oz, from the start the adorable Prince made a huge impression across the globe, and the much publicised tour of New Zealand and Australia provided us with a chance to see more of the gorgeous boy and his doting parents.

So as George turns 1 the question is what do you buy a Prince for his first birthday? With a Peter Rabbit themed party arranged by Kate’s family, and a further party organised by Kate at Kensington Palace taking place this week, we take a look at the gifts and surprises that George received throughout his birthday celebrations.

Hands on and down to earth parents Kate and William chose a mixture of practical and fun gifts for their little boy.  Like any one year old George was delighted to receive a new football from his parents, and now he is able to toddle will have even more fun playing with his family and Lupo their dog.  A personalised wooden train was another well received gift from his parents together with a new dressing gown, also with his name on it.

Carrying on the Peter Rabbit theme, there was also a collection of first editions by Beatrix Potter for George to enjoy, and with a continuing traditional feel to many of his gifts, a Tombolo Lace pillow was a present from Kate and William’s housekeeper, and George’s Nanny created a Tarta de Santiago, a traditional Spanish cake for all to enjoy.

Celebrity gifts arrived in the form of designer clothes from David and Victoria Beckham, with a selection of onesies said to have been sent by Jools and Jamie Oliver. Personalised Ugg boots were also a new addition to George’s wardrobe and he was treated to his very own model of Kensington Palace believed to have been delivered by Mothercare.

A gift fit for royalty if you have a cool million to spare is the 18 carat gold nail clippers which have been launched by Stylfile to mark the Prince’s 1st birthday.  Encrusted with 350 diamonds, each individual stone is valued at £2,000, with diamond dust adorning the file also included in this the world’s most expensive clipper set.
